The Battle of Brunanburh
The battle united Angles, Saxons, Jutes and English Danes under the reign of Athelstan, King of England. They battled the Scotts, North and West Welsh, Cumbrian Britains and the Danish Chiefs of Northumbria. The area of Brunenburh translates as Brown Rock - there is speculation that this may have been Red Nab - now the ste of Heysham Harbour.
